Depends, I also have incredibly thick hair. I don't like my hair that short so I just have them razor the ends, it makes your hair feel a lot lighter and fresh. If you got it layered go for long layers so you can still have enough to put it up. Defiantly go for the razored ends, I love the feeling!

I have super thick hair. Im talking obnoxiously thick and I get layers in it. I have the stylist cut the layers to where the longer layers are on the outside and the shorter layers are closer to my neck.

If your hair is already long, and you would like to keep it long YOU DO HAVE OPTIONS :-)

Ask your hair stylist to use thinning shears on you. They are the scissors that look like broken teeth on one side. It will reduce a great amount of bulk from your "thick thick" hair so it wont feel so heavy.

Then when you get your next cut or trim, a couple months down the road - tell them do use thinning shears also.

Well, I have pretty think hair %26amp;%26amp; I got my hair cut short with a few layers and i'm too thrilled with it. I'm sure excatly what your getting done to your hair so maybe? Just take into consideration that the shorter your hair the thicker it will be.
