because usually when i get my hair done i get it straight and i was thinking if i cut my hair that short that when my hair goes back to curly i wont be able to put it ina pony tail and it will just look like a afro right now its shoulder lengh.

Interesting question! My daughter has naturally curly hair and it used to look like a halo surrounding her face. Since we've cut it "boy-short" it looks great and you can see her beautiful face. Even though it's still curly, the curls seem to accentuate her positive features rather than look like an afro. I say "Go for it!" The worst that will happen is you won't like it and you'll want to grow it out again. The best that can happen is that you'll find a style that makes you more fabulous looking than you already are!
