my hair is soft and curly-not nappy like black girls- my mom is puerto rican and my dad is black that is why i have this hair.

i have no problem with straightening my hair and i am going to get an emo hair cut to match the way i dress. i am coloring my hair jet black and adding dark purple streaks and am getting it cut a little above my shoulders-my hair is long now.

how short should i cut my hair and will it work with my hair?-my hair is pretty thin when i straighten my hair

The hair cut sounds fine, just keep in mind that you will likely have to constantly straighten your hair to keep your haircut looking the way you want. Also, don't forget to have your hair straightened if and when you cut it because hair is longer when it's straight. Good luck with the hair cut!

My personal opinion is it will not work. It looks cooler when an emo has long, black hair with streaks.

That sounds creepy. Ugh. Well, I'd say you can cut it kind of medium, so your bangs go about 3-4cm below your eyes. Maybe that's a good length. Ask some other person who would know for sure. I'm just taking a wild guess.

Hi, I deal with situations like yours every day at work...I'm a hairstylist. Sounds to me like what you're planning to do will really damage your hair unless you take all the precautions necessary to protect it from all the heat styling and daily abuse...mostly because you'll have to blow dry and straighten it nearly every day. If you're insistent upon having it short, use a good flat iron, I recommend a CHI or GHD brand iron (it'll set you back about $100), and DEFINITELY use the CHI styling line, specifically the Silk Infusion and the 44 Iron Guard, if nothing else at least those two products. Use the SIlk infusion before you blowdry, and the Iron Guard after you blow dry on each section before you iron. To maintain the shape of your hair and it's health, get a 1/2 inch trim every 4 weeks. If your hair is pretty thin when it's straight you might not get the desired effect, and you certainly won't if you leave it curly. It's gotta be straight for that edgy look! Also your purple streaks will not have much staying power if you blowdry/style/wash your hair frequently. It is very high maintainence. I wear my hair Manic Panic Ultraviolet and I have to retouch it every week. I wish hot emo hair was easy to take care of, but it's not... Pain is Beauty, my friend
