Should i cut my hair short all at once or gradually?

u see my hair has so many split ends it's not even funny NE more so i went to get an inch cut off the other week and the lady who cut it told me that i should either cut it short all at once and start over and keep it healthy or just keep goin back and getting it cut an inch everytime 4-6 weeks. thing is i have african-american hair so it doesn't grow back very fast at all. also idk if i can maintain the short look that i want cuz my hair texture is different. so tell me what you think please!

first thing i have to say is that it's a myth that african american's hair grows slower than other races. second thing is, you should cut it off gradually because once you get it all cut off your still going to need to keep getting it cut due to the hairstyling that you do; however if it is that severe you should get all the split ends cut off at one time so you have a clean slate to start with

Frankly, I'd go an inch or so at a time. You can always cut more off...but you can't add it back on once it's off.
